Ash Wednesday March 6 at 7:00 PM
This is the day on which Lent begins, often observed in worship by receiving a cross of ashes on the forehead. The ashes are a hint at an ancient ritual – covering oneself with ashes in penitence. It reminds us that we are dust and is a public statement of repentance.
Sunday Services in Lent at 8:00 and 10:30 AM
Lent is a time of preparation. The observance of Lent during the 40 days (plus six Sundays) before Easter appeared in the early Church as an imitation of Jesus’ 40 days of self-denial and prayer in the wilderness. “We are encouraged to observe three penitential practices of prayer, almsgiving and fasting. Great transformation awaits us.” Please join us as we gather together on the five Sundays in Lent to engage in inspiring, prayerful and enlivening worship – a beautiful combination of Mattins and Holy Eucharist.
