BOOKS FOR MOTHERS AND CHILDREN READING PROGRAM
Your generosity means so much to a child who, through no fault of their own, is suffering through a difficult time of separation. Their mother reads the book on video and then sends the book and video to the child. The program offers reassurance to the child who can see and hear their mother as they share a story together.
Once again, ACIC (Anglican Churches in Cambridge) are collecting new books for the “Read Aloud Program” at GVI. This year, the most needed books are for teen and pre-teen chapter books and graphic novels, such as:
The “Bone” series
Diary of a Wimpy Kid
Andrea Beatty “girls” career books
In addition, the women always appreciate:
which they use to decorate their homemade book and CD covers especially from favourite children’s movies such a “Frozen” and “Cars”, and special seasons such as Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Easter, Hallowe’en. Also “alphabet” stickers which they use to put their child’s name on the book.
COLOURED RIBBON (1 cm or ½ inch wide) and WOOL (leftovers at least 36” long and fine)
for lacing up and decorating homemade book and CD covers.
Please have books (and other items) into the church on or before Easter Sunday, April 12th where they will be blessed before being delivered to the Chaplain at GVI.
Thank you for your continuing support of the program!
